I had the pleasure of sewing the Sakura dress in a size 7 for my daughter. Sakura Dress/Top is a lovely French pattern by the company Ikatee. I have sewn one of their patterns before and was worried that being a French pattern that the English translation might be slightly lacking but I can say with assurance this is not the case.
The instructions of Ikatee patterns are very thorough and easy to follow. For girls dresses I love to use Liberty Tana Lawn because the prints are so joyful and the fabric perfectly light for Spring and Summer. For the Sakura dress I used Liberty Meadow Song Tana Lawn Cotton. I paired this fabric with some vintage lace that I have had in my stash for a long time.
I don’t need to make any modifications to this pattern although I found it easier and neater to hand sew down the lining before top stitching the bodice together. This is something I often do to get a very neat finish especially when I am using super special fabrics!
I used some buttons from my stash that seemed to match the fabric! I love when you get the perfect match between a fabric and something already in your button jar!
I am sure my daughter will love to wear this dress once the weather warms up!
