New Merchant & Mills Jacquard Cottons

With the arrival of the latest batch of Merchant & Mills jacquard cottons, it seems timely to talk about this fabric and how it can be used.

This lovely soft quilted cotton fabric lends itself to a range of uses—like throws, quilts, and large fluffy pillows/cushions. There are also a few garment patterns that are either designed to use this type of fabric, or work well with it.

Pattern Suggestions

  • Merchant & Mills Sidney Top—a boxy sweatshirt with a loose crew neck and finger skimming sleeves. (Note that we are currently out of stock of this pattern, but are planning to restock before the printed pattern is discontinued.)
  • Megan Nielsen Hovea Jacket & Coat—sized US 0–20, a loose fit drop shoulder jacket & coat in multiple lengths.
  • Paper Theory LB Pullover—this pattern now only available as a PDF
  • Grainline Studio Tamarack Jacket—available in US 0–18 and US 14–30, this pattern was designed to use standard cotton fabric and batting then quilted yourself, however could work equally as well with this fabric.
